Our team uses Dropbox for collecting field work photos via links into our site admin and ultimately our invoices for clients. I also use Dropbox as our main file system for the company and my home system as well. We recently did an workflow analysis, and Google Drive won out, overwhelmingly, when we approached Dropbox for pro-rated refund, they said our annual service fee paid 30 days before was totally unrefundable, we're actually discontinuing this service as soon as possible.
  • Has the least amount of steps to create a link to file or files
  • Uploads in the background
  • Generally synch pretty intuitively on android mobile and windows pc
  • The speed and click-through to add media to a new or existing folder is more steps than through Google Drive, we used this single function 10s if not hundreds of times per day for our 2000+ clients, this needs to be simplified
  • Not offering a pro-rated refund after having service with you for over a decade business & personal is totally unacceptable, regardless of any future service improvements, we fully intend to not use your service again
Same as other services.

We use dropbox to support our remote team by having a cloud based filing system. It allows us to have everything organized and accessible where ever our team members are.
  • keeps items organized
  • cloud based
  • syncs automatically with all users
  • availability to edit at the same time, the same version (not create multiple versions)
Its great for keeping our files very organized.
It feels like a super robust filing system.
However, when it comes to collaborative work (multiple people working on the same document at the same time), dropbox is not ideal. It saves multiple version of the document which adds confustion. Because of this we use googe drive for collaborative work although Google Drive is less organized in my opinion.

We use Dropbox as our company's file database platform. We need version control and file-sharing capabilities that Dropbox provides. Our use case is just across internal file sharing and is used concurrently with the Google Drive ecosystem.
  • Version control.
  • Working across online + file explorer.
  • Notifying when multiple people are editing a file.
  • Lag in saving files for others to see.
  • Losing edits because of overwritten data.
  • Working concurrently in a file.
Well-suited for sharing files across users easily and establishing an easily accessible knowledge base. Less appropriate for instantaneous collaboration.

we use Dropbox everyday, it is one of our main server to save docs. it is so convenient that for those who have shared access of the folders, we can view the changes in files immediately and share with others using the link it created. the only issue of using Dropbox maybe syncing issue.
  • sync immediately
  • easy to use
  • allow multiple users to access the same folder
  • a reliable platform
  • cannot view large documents online (download only) in my experience
  • syncing issue
i will consider it as the option other than using OneDrive server. it is really convenient and easy to use. there is even also a Dropbox app that allow us to access the files using tablets or smartphones. we don't have to use the laptop to view the files if we want to have a quick glimpse.

log records for 1. Lab diagnosis 2. Mammograms 3. Referrals 4. Month end reports.
  • Before using Dropbox I was using excel sheets for all my different report and held it on my desk top.
  • For several times due to various reasons(i.e computer crash) lost all my data and had hard time to gather and retrieve.
  • Since I started Dropbox I am so comfortable and worry free with my daily work flows
  • after working on one of my spread sheet and saved it not taking me back to the main menu screen for me to pick another spreadsheet.
  • I have to go completely off and come back to Dropbox to see the original menu screen. Maybe it's my user's fault. There must be a way to go back and forth off of main menu screen.
As mentioned above, we happy, less frustration and quite comfortable to use Dropbox. I am glad I do not have to use excel to store all my log sheet. I can't think where Dropbox is less appropriate.

We use Dropbox for several aspects of our organization—we use Dropbox as cloud storage, to collaborate on a variety of projects including Word, Excel, and PSD files, and as a repository for ProPresenter media. Dropbox is essential to our workflow and we use it in the office, on the go through our mobile app, and when we work offsite. We could not support in-house the infrastructure nor the manpower needed to effectively accomplish what Dropbox does—plus they have years of an established reputation.

  • Knowledgeable and accessible customer support
  • Reliable and dependable cloud storage
  • Important safeguards for when mistakes happen
  • Versatile among a number of applications and scenarios
  • Although I use a paid subscription, recommending the free Dropbox option to new users can be a little difficult to understand because it does not seem to be free up front.
  • In-browser interface is a little clunky and sometimes it is difficult locating certain features.
  • online/offline files and folders are difficult to understand.
  • Increased usability with other software programs
Dropbox is well suited for scenarios where multiple user are going to be working on and collaborating on a number of projects.

It is less suited for companies and organizations that have the in-house infrastructure for local servers

We use Dropbox for storing small files and documents. We file share across collaborators on our team, and sometimes request files from those outside of our team.
  • syncing with the mac desktop and operating system
  • making files accessible quickly while working remote
  • clear indication of file permissions
  • unable to share files outside of my organization easily I've found
  • backup is redundant for me, and the backup pages on the web version are confusing
Dropbox works well for teams that need to share files with each other or access each other's files either on the web or within a desktop. It does not work as well for those who rely heavily on Microsoft office products such as word, where if you are editing a file live, in my experience you are required to download the file and save a separate version for tracking changes. It wouldn't work if multiple people are editing the same document at the same time in my opinon. We have not tried to sync our photo library with Dropbox but the cost of file storage seems to be prohibitive.

As someone who has been using Dropbox for both personal and professional purposes, I feel compelled to share my experience with this versatile cloud storage solution. I initially started using Dropbox as a convenient way to store and access my personal files across multiple devices, but it quickly became an integral part of my work routine as well.
  • Manages files and folders
  • Lets you view the file before downloading
  • Syncs with your other systems
  • Sync across apps easier
  • Multiple account switches, for personal and professional use
  • Automations
Sharing files with customers who consider data to be sensitive. As someone who often handles sensitive data, the security features of Dropbox give me peace of mind. The file encryption, two-factor authentication, and remote device wipe capabilities ensure that my data is safe, even if my device is lost or stolen.

One can share files and folders from your cloud storage, simply by copying a link. Store the files on the cloud to save the work and operate online anywhere with safe authentication. Transfer large files, like videos, by sending a link for recipients to download.
  • Transfer large files, like videos, by sending a link for recipients to download
  • Data security and easy accessibility
  • Accessible from any device with safe authentication from the Cloud
  • Easy to organize data and share it with the link
  • Files shared by link will not get synced when changes are made by you on the same files.
  • New files added by other people or devices aren't syncing to your device.
  • The Dropbox files and folders disappeared from the screen and sync stopped working.
Suited because the app is available for practically every operating system, offers a flexible array of collaborative tools, gives solid offerings for premium subscribers, has digital signatures enabled, superb app integration, automatic file backup and synchronization, and has offline functionality. It's not well suited because it has poor storage limits for free users, comparatively expensive paid subscriptions, security weaknesses, and a limited search function.

We maintain a great deal of information about our company and our customers that needs to be shared among multiple computers and staff members. Dropbox provides us with a central location where all of our information is readily available. It's even available on our mobile devices, which makes things very convenient.
  • Shared data
  • Software to manage data on mobile devices
  • Status Notifications
  • Users with Multiple accounts
  • Forcing applications to use Dropbox for storage
Unlike some cloud storage applications (e.g., OneDrive), Dropbox is not necessarily tied to a specific user making sharing data among multiple users easy. The notifications when creating or removing files also make decisions to keep files or create them locally versus for everyone easy.

We use Dropbox as the official storage for all of our documents. It allows multiple people to access the same documents (PDFs of legal agreements, meeting minutes, etc.) and provides a platform to share large documents quickly (photos, videos, etc.). We are a nonprofit, so not exactly a business. We use it for storage and sharing of all electronic material.
  • Upload photos in full size and quality from my phone to an automatically shared folder.
  • Allow smooth access to the same files from multiple devices.
  • Allow different privacy sharings for different folders.
  • I discovered some hidden files on the desktop version that appeared on the website version when the title name was included or other symbols. I then renamed the files and they appeared, but would be smoother to somehow sync those files to appear both on the website and the desktop Dropbox folders, regardless of title names.
  • I still don't fully see the difference or the appeal to one or the other with shared folders vs. team folders. We have both for different files, and I'm not sure why two formats are necessary.
  • Allow for some sort of setting that puts a cap on the GB of files allowed to download to each device. I first also synced the Dropbox drive on the desktop of my personal laptop for the occasional work while traveling, but it downloaded too much for the device to function properly, so I had to uninstall it and access the files via remote desktop, instead.
Dropbox is great for sharing and storing a high volume of files that are not to be edited, such as PDFs or jpegs. Dropbox is also helpful for me to access files that I alone wish to edit, as it allows for access from different devices. Dropbox is less helpful if a document is being edited by more than one person, and sometimes prevents an editor from saving their changes. Google Docs is often preferable for that scenario since all viewers can see the current status when edits are being made.

We use Dropbox to work on documents together. This is especially important for manuscript writing. We also use Dropbox with collaborators to distribute files too large to send via email. The only downside to Dropbox is that files accumulate very quickly. For instance, if you have the system synced to your desktop, copies of the files are stored locally. If then a person uploads 100Gb to your shared folder, 100Gb of your desktop drive is instantly used. This can be alleviated by turning off the sync feature.
  • Syncing
  • Sharing to other users
  • Saving conflicting copies
  • Too many conflicting copies. There should be a warning when someone currently has a file open.
Dropbox is great for file sharing and for multiple people to edit the same document. The two downsides are the file sync to your desktop and the number of conflicting copies that get saved. The file sync is convenient as it saves a copy of everything to your desktop, however, when other users upload large files it fills your hard drive very quickly. The conflicting copies issue is the result of two people having the same file open at the same time and making different versions of the same file. Every time this happens a new conflicting copy is created. It becomes confusing.

Dropbox has been a game-changer for our company and our employees. Its user-friendly interface and robust data staging capabilities have simplified our workflow, ensuring our teams have access to up-to-date information effortlessly. The platform's seamless collaboration features, cross-platform compatibility, and comprehensive security measures have not only enhanced our productivity but also provided peace of mind.
  • Dropbox's real-time collaboration features, including simultaneous editing and commenting, have revolutionized the way our teams work together.
  • On multiple occasions, we've accidentally overwritten important documents or needed to retrieve deleted files. With Dropbox, we can easily revert to previous versions or recover deleted files, preventing data loss and minimizing disruptions.
  • Dropbox excels in making file sharing a breeze. With just a few clicks, we can generate shareable links or invite colleagues to shared folders.
  • Custom branding options for shared links and folders would help businesses maintain a consistent and professional image when sharing files externally, adding a touch of personalization to shared content.
  • allowing users to set view-only access for specific sections of a document while maintaining edit rights for others would be valuable for collaboration on complex documents.
  • Integration with More Apps
Dropbox lacks advanced project management features, so businesses heavily reliant on project planning, task management, and timelines may find it less appropriate. In such cases, a dedicated project management tool might be more suitable.

-Limited Budget: For startups or small businesses on a tight budget, Dropbox's pricing, especially as data storage needs increase, can be a concern. It may be less appropriate for those seeking more cost-effective alternatives.

We use Dropbox to share large amounts of data, maps, design work, and other information throughout our company. Dropbox helps us address the transfer of data throughout the company because we are located in different parts of the State. Our data has gotten too large for email, and Dropbox gives us a place to store and share.
  • Easy accessible.
  • Folders and files resemble "normal" computer looking files.
  • The app allows us to view documents on the go.
  • I feel the online or app versions should look more like a computer file folder.
Dropbox is perfect for storage and large data sharing. For small data sharing, email works just as well.

We use dropbox to store our client data and organize our file structure so we don't have to have an in-house server and still have all team members have access to all firm files.
  • Allows us to have word docs and Excel spreadsheets that multiple people can work on at the same time
  • allows flawless integration with the windows operating system that allows us to see shared files as if they were local files
  • Dropbox helps us feel secure about our file storage management and security of that data.
  • better notifications about conflicted copies of files
  • Let us know in a more direct way when someone else has the file open on their desktop rather than the online web version
  • allow a secure file sharing with people outside of the organization who don't have a dropbox account.
Good for general file sharing. Not good for sharing program files such as QuickBooks company files where people can work on the QuickBooks file remotely.

I have 100s of GBs of data that I need to quickly analyze across devices as well as save for long periods of time. I use this service on all my devices to keep them in sync, and so do my friends. A majority of software, such as Emacs, that I use on multiple devices stays in sync via Dropbox. Unlike alternative cloud storage services, dropbox provides a Linux client, which is absolutely necessary for my needs. I have been using it for 10+ years, and now my storage requirements have increased to a couple of terabytes, personally. Dropbox is value for money and quite convenient.
  • Share data.
  • Keep softwares in sync via data sharing.
  • Store huge amounts of data for quick access.
  • Pricing for students could be better.
  • On some proxy networks, sometimes it fails to work on some PCs in my lab.
  • Allowing more free devices could be helpful for beginners.
Sharing data, as well as long-term storage, is a really good place where this works, especially because my SSDs crash, and it is hard to manage them across my travel from work to home. Moreover, I work across platforms, and there aren't many services that are cross-platform. It is less suited for personal use, though, because of the price.

For Gardner & Co. I use it daily for our client files. For Harmony Inc and My chorus I use it as a storage for planning and sharing documents. Gardner & Co is a professional consulting (speaking) and education; Harmony Inc is a non-profit and volunteer organization with users across the US & Canada.
  • Store items that I can access in day-to-day setting, collaborating with my team
  • Access with browser or with file explorer
  • Share documents (with versioning) with team members
  • The refresh rate can be different based upon your operating system and access. This can be frustrating when you are working with a team member, or on a document at the same time.
Very well suited where you are working on different stored documents across time/travel zones. It is harder when you are working on the same document at the same time - but I do this in a very limited arena.

Dropbox is my go-to for hassle-free file sharing and storage. It's a game-changer in collaborative work, offering a user-friendly experience. While it nails most tasks, I've noticed some quirks, especially with Storyline where saving can be finicky. Despite that, Dropbox is still my trusted companion for smooth document management.
  • File sharing
  • Cloud storage
  • Space saving
  • Selective sync
Storyline files don't save very well on Dropbox. They often create duplicates and version numbers can become quite confusing. This might be an issue with Storyline though. It works well when being used to store smaller files, I especially like the feature that shows whether it is synced or not.

Dropbox is great because it gives me the simplicity of being able to easily send a file or multiple files to a customer or collage without have to send multiple emails because the file or files are too large for a simple email server to transact. Drop box also helps us in sending one set of drawings to multiple vendors so everyone can download the same version of the file and we know that another version may not have slipped through the cracks.
  • Simple

The Design Lead and all the Design team members use Dropbox to store various design files. Dropbox is convenient and easy to use. If a new member joins in, he simply needs to download and install the desktop app and have access to all the files, once the files are synced. If one can't find a file in the folders, we simply share the dropbox link over a message with each other. Dropbox was overall good to use except one feature that I suggested in my last interview call with Dropbox Team, back in September. I had discussed with them how it causes issues if someone's on the file making edits or has opened the file, so that as a designer the double work can be prevented. But now I see that it been taken care of. Helpful features like Activity, Version history, Lock editing have been added. Thanks a ton for the Lock editing feature, it's definitely going to help us designers and improve our experience with Dropbox. Keep up the good work Dropbox Team!

In our dynamic organization, integrating Dropbox has been a game-changer, elevating our collaborative efforts to unprecedented heights. Substituting traditional VPNs and file storage solutions, Dropbox seamlessly streamlines our workflow, fostering real-time collaboration irrespective of geographical constraints. This cloud-based gem transcends mere file sharing; it's a virtual workspace, a nexus of innovation. Its intuitive interface enhances accessibility, allowing our team to synchronize, edit, and share documents effortlessly. Unshackled from the limitations of traditional storage, Dropbox empowers us with unparalleled flexibility, ensuring that our projects evolve organically. It's not just file storage; it's a conduit for creativity, a digital symphony orchestrating seamless connectivity.
  • Lots of storage
  • Allows for many users
  • Can use from anywhere
  • I worry about security
  • I wish there was more storage without having to be online.
  • The online format is not as functional or user friendly as the one that is downloaded to my computer.
Collaborative Projects: Dropbox shines when it comes to collaborative projects involving multiple team members. Its real-time syncing ensures that everyone is working with the latest version of files, fostering seamless collaboration. Remote Work: For a distributed team like ours, Dropbox is a lifeline for remote work. Its cloud-based nature allows team members to access files from anywhere, promoting flexibility and productivity.Less appropriate - Large Datasets: Handling large datasets, especially those exceeding the available storage quota, might pose challenges. In such cases, alternative solutions or higher-tier Dropbox plans may be necessary. Complex Project Management: While Dropbox aids collaboration, it might fall short for comprehensive project management needs. For intricate project tracking and task management, integrating dedicated project management tools could be more suitable.

Client folders where we save their AutoCAD drawings for their projects and send the larger files to other trades people that are working on their project. It's pretty easy to do all of this but storage runs out quickly in which you need to start paying to have the actual storage you need to save your files.
  • Easy to access information
  • Easy to login to the system from your computer or phone
  • Easy to access company files from anywhere
  • More free storage space
